JOB PURPOSE:
Under general direction, fabricates various types and sizes of ASC Building Products profiles according to specifications; performs set-up of raw material and assures quality of product. Perform assigned responsibilities taking into account yours & others safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following reflects ASC Profiles’ definition of essential functions for this job:
•Utilizes manual, numerically controlled, and computerized machine shop equipment to perform machining operations on a roll form mill for metal products specific to the mill.
•Move bundles of material to appropriate area in production department for packaging using carts or forklifts as specified.
•Work from and in accordance with specifications and design criteria including but not limited to verbal instructions, shop orders, and drawings; performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, speeds, and feeds of machining. Notes any secondary operation required for the order and advises the correct department of the needed process. Ensures drawings match order requests.
•Protects company assets and checks to make sure preventive maintenance items have been performed on the equipment to be used. Lubricates machinery on a timely basis, completes a Maintenance Request Form when necessary and advises the Supervisor or lead of any immediate problems.
•Supervises and trains assigned mill assistants to ensure a safe, efficient and productive working environment, following all safety rules and regulations to include: hard hats, safety glasses, appropriate gloves, forearm protection, ear plugs, steel toe shoes, safe lifting, and bending techniques.
•Practices good housekeeping habits.
•Notifies appropriate personnel of any unsafe conditions in the workplace.
•Accurately completes necessary paperwork for the mill such as Shift Reports, Quality Check lists or Order Check lists.
•Monitors the quality of the material produced. Checks the first piece ran on each order and periodically throughout larger runs. Notifies the Production Supervisor of any problems in manufacturing the product.
•Oversees each tooling or die change.
•Subject to any and all miscellaneous work related duties requested by immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Training/Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent GED
Desirable: Considerable experience in mechanical trouble shooting, 2 years machine shop experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
•Ability to safely operate a forklift with up to a 10,000# capacity
•Basic knowledge of machine shop equipment (roll formers, presses) and processes used in a manufacturing environment.
•Demonstrates basic math skills with use of a calculator.
•Required to use and read a tape measure, micrometer, and a protractor.
•Knowledge of safe use pneumatic nail guns, staple guns & manual binding equipment.
•Ability to guide and direct the work of the operator assistant; collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; prioritize, organize and complete tasks independently; communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff.
•Must read and understand accessory drawings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•This is a production department classification and employee’s work in a plant environment with moderate noise levels, and non-controlled temperature conditions. This position requires repetitive climbing on and off the forklift and must lift up to 65 pounds without assistance.
